Privacy
1. General information
Protecting your personal data matters to me, Marcin Poholski. This website provides information about Socinianism and is a private, non-commercial project.
The site is deliberately built to collect as little as possible: it sets no cookies, includes no analytics or advertising services, and loads nothing from third-party servers while you read. You can read all of the content without any personal data arising beyond the server log data that is technically unavoidable.
Wherever you enter something yourself — in the forum, in the belief compass or when subscribing to the newsletter — you do so voluntarily. All processing complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).
2. Controller
Controller within the meaning of the GDPR:
Marcin Poholski
CAYA Postbox 595276
96035 Bamberg
Germany
E-mail: info[at]socinianism.com
3. Hosting
This website is hosted by a German web host. The provider is ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich, owner René Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany.
The host processes the data that arises technically when the site is called up (see section 4 a) solely for the operation and security of the website. The servers are located in Germany; no transfer to third countries takes place.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in providing the website securely and reliably). A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the host.
4. Data collection on this website
a) Server log files
When you call up the website, your browser automatically transmits information which the host stores in what are known as server log files. These are:
- browser type and version
- operating system used
- referrer URL (the previously visited page)
- host name of the accessing computer
- time of the server request
- IP address
This data is not merged with other sources and serves solely the technically faultless and secure operation of the website. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
b) No cookies — storage in your browser
This website sets no cookies. There is therefore no cookie banner and no consent for you to give or withdraw.
For a few convenience features the site stores entries in your browser's local storage. These entries are not transmitted — neither to me nor to any third party — but stay on your device:
- theme — whether you chose the light or the dark appearance.
- socinianism.locale — the language you selected, so that the site opens in it again next time.
- rettungsanker — a timestamp in session storage by which the site recognises whether it has already restarted itself once after a loading error. It is discarded when you close the browser tab.
You can delete these entries at any time in your browser settings. Since they provide only features you asked for yourself, no consent is required for them under § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG.
c) Contact by e-mail
If you write to me by e-mail, the details in your message including your contact data are stored solely in order to deal with your request. They are not passed on without your consent.
The processing is based on Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent) or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures).
d) Page view counter
Some pages show a counter with the number of views so far. All that is stored is a counter value per page path on this website's server — no IP address, no time of visit and no identifier by which an individual view could be attributed to a person.
No personal reference arises; this is not audience measurement in the sense of data protection law.
e) Forum
The forum works without a user account and without cookies. When you submit a post, the display name you chose, the text of the post and the time of submission are stored.
In addition, the server stores a hash value of your IP address — the address itself is not kept, only a check value calculated from it. It serves solely to limit the number of posts per sender and to prevent abuse.
Posts appear only after I have approved them. Please do not use your real name as a display name and do not reveal anything in the text that you would not want to be read publicly — approved posts are visible to all visitors.
The legal basis for the details you enter is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent through voluntary entry), and for the hash value Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in preventing abuse). You can request the deletion of a post at any time by informal e-mail.
f) Belief compass
The belief compass is a voluntary questionnaire. If you complete it, your result feeds into a shared statistic. Only the answers given, the result, the language version and the originating page are transmitted.
IP address, browser identifier, name or any other identifier are expressly not stored. Individual results therefore cannot be attributed to any person; the data is anonymous and the GDPR does not apply to it.
Answers to questions of faith touch on a particularly sensitive area — which is precisely why the result is transmitted without any identifier at all. If you would still rather not, simply do not complete the questionnaire: until then every answer stays in your browser.
g) Newsletter
On this website you can subscribe to the newsletter voluntarily. Only your e-mail address is collected for this; no further details are required.
Subscription uses the double opt-in procedure: after you submit the form you receive an e-mail containing a confirmation link. Your address is only added to the mailing list once you click that link. This ensures that nobody can enter someone else's address.
The delivery service provider is MailerLite Limited, 88 Harcourt Street, Dublin 2, D02 DK18, Ireland. MailerLite processes your address on my behalf under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. Besides the e-mail address, MailerLite stores technical data such as the time and IP address of the subscription and the confirmation, in order to be able to demonstrate the consent.
The legal basis for the processing is your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future — via the unsubscribe link at the end of every newsletter e-mail or informally by e-mail to info[at]socinianism.com. After withdrawal your address is deleted from the mailing list; the lawfulness of the processing carried out until then remains unaffected.
MailerLite's privacy notice is available at mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.
h) Read-aloud function
Many pages can be read aloud. The audio files are stored ready-made on this website's server and are delivered like images. No third-party speech synthesis is used, nothing is sent to external servers, and your microphone is never accessed.
5. No analytics, tracking or marketing services
This website uses no Google Analytics, no Google Tag Manager, no advertising networks, no social media plugins and no other services for evaluating user behaviour. There is no profiling and no automated decision-making.
Fonts, images and all other design elements are also loaded from the site's own server. While you are reading, your browser therefore establishes no connection to third-party servers. Such a connection only arises when you do something yourself — click an external link or submit the newsletter form.
6. Disclosure of data
Personal data is disclosed to third parties only
- to the host, insofar as this is necessary for the technical operation of the website (processing on behalf),
- to MailerLite, if you subscribe to the newsletter (processing on behalf),
- insofar as you have expressly consented, or
- insofar as there is a legal obligation.
Data is never sold or made available for advertising purposes.
7. Your rights as a data subject
You have the right at any time to:
- information about the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR),
- rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR),
- erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR),
- restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
- object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR),
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
- withdraw a consent given, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR).
An informal e-mail to info[at]socinianism.com or a message to the postal address given in the imprint is enough to exercise these rights.
8. SSL or TLS encryption
This site transmits all content encrypted via SSL or TLS. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the browser's address bar ("https://") and the padlock symbol.
9. External links and social media profiles
This website links to external pages, among them the project's profiles on TikTok, Telegram, YouTube and Linktree as well as the podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. These are plain links, not embedded content: a connection to the respective provider is established only when you click the link.
The respective provider is responsible for the data processing on the linked pages. I have no influence over their content and accept no liability for it.
10. Storage period
- Server log files: deleted automatically by the host after a short time.
- E-mails: for as long as is needed to deal with your request, then deleted unless statutory retention periods apply.
- Forum posts: until deleted at your request or removed by moderation.
- Newsletter: until you withdraw your consent.
- Counter values and compass statistics: permanently, but without any personal reference.
11. Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
In the event of breaches of data protection law you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent authority is:
Der Hamburgische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit
Ludwig-Erhard-Straße 22, 7th floor
20459 Hamburg, Germany
Phone: +49 (0)40 42854-4040
E-mail: mailbox@datenschutz.hamburg.de
12. Note on the non-commercial character
This site pursues no commercial interests. Neither goods nor services are offered, and visitor data is not evaluated for advertising purposes.
